During his visit to Indonesian companies that export their products to Beirut, the Director General of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, Muhammad Abu Haidar, encouraged “the opening of their factories in Lebanon with the aim of securing job opportunities and saving on shipping operations to the Middle East and the Gulf.”
Abu Haidar stressed that “the Ministry of Economy and Trade provides the necessary facilities to the private sector, especially through mechanization, which it recently began implementing,” pointing out that “Lebanon represents an entry point to other markets in the region and is capable of playing an important role in the reconstruction phase of Syria.”
Abu Haidar listened with the Lebanese Chargé d’Affairs, George Abu Zeid, to the success stories of Lebanese businessmen in various fields in Indonesia, and discussed with them additional cooperation opportunities with the private sector in Lebanon.
Abu Haidar also participated, in the presence of Abu Zeid, in a remote meeting that included the head of the economic bodies, Muhammad Shuqair, and the head of the Chamber of Commerce in the capital, Jakarta, Arshad Rashid, which included the signing of a cooperation agreement between the chambers of commerce in Lebanon and Jakarta.
