The International Quds Day, an annual event, serves as a platform for demonstrators worldwide to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and voice opposition against Israel’s occupation. This day holds great significance as it was officially declared by the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, in 1979. He designated the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day, creating a lasting legacy for generations to come.
The timing of this year’s Quds Day is particularly poignant due to the recent Israeli regime’s devastating onslaught on the Gaza Strip. Since October 7, 2023, at least 33,037 Palestinians have lost their lives, and an additional 75,668 individuals have been wounded as a result of Israeli attacks on Gaza. These shocking statistics highlight the urgency and critical importance of events such as the Quds Day rally in uniting global voices against the ongoing violence and oppression faced by the Palestinian people.
