Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, announced on Saturday that a missile fired during the force’s latest naval exercise has a range exceeding the full length of the Persian Gulf.
The Admiral referred to the recent “Eghtedar” (Power) military drills conducted across the Gulf, the Naze’at Islands, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Sea of Oman, noting that all planned objectives were achieved. The exercises showcased a portion of the IRGC Navy’s capabilities, particularly its missile systems, including both defensive missiles and surface-to-surface platforms.
Tangsiri highlighted the Gulf’s 1,375-kilometer span, saying, “In this drill, we used a missile whose range surpasses the length of the Gulf. It is an IRGC Navy product with unique features, including the ability to receive commands after launch.”
He stressed that all weapons employed in the drills were entirely domestically produced, revealing the use of a new ballistic missile with “exceptionally high accuracy.” He withheld the missile’s name but said its precision “was clearly witnessed by the enemy.”
In the second phase of its naval exercise, the IRGC Navy fired long-range missiles and drones at targets in the Gulf of Oman while testing air defenses and electronic warfare readiness in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz.

IRGC Denies Claims About Distance From US Carriers
Responding to claims that IRGC forces cannot approach US aircraft carriers, Tangsiri dismissed them outright. “This is completely false. We have approached them before and even marked their vessels without their knowledge,” he said.
He also pointed to recently released aerial images showing IRGC Navy drones monitoring a US aircraft carrier, emphasizing that the force maintains full surveillance and control over the entire Persian Gulf. “Our capabilities enable comprehensive monitoring of American forces,” he added.
On whether US carriers would be pushed out of Iranian waters if they entered, he said, “They do not enter our waters, nor even areas under our watch. If they do, incidents like the detention of 10 American sailors—or four others—or the two occasions involving British personnel will recur.”
‘No Leniency Toward Any Aggression’
Tangsiri underscored the IRGC’s readiness for any escalation at sea. “We are prepared if war moves to the maritime domain. I am not a politician; I am a military man who studies the enemy’s thinking, behavior, and presence in the region—and I prepare accordingly. The Commander-in-Chief consistently stresses the need for full readiness.”
He concluded by affirming that the Iranian people should know the IRGC will show no leniency toward any hostile move. “Without hesitation, if enemies attempt to violate the rights of our nation, the legacy of our martyrs, or the interests of our country, they will receive a harsh blow,” Tangsiri warned, stressing that any miscalculation by adversaries in the Gulf will face a decisive response from the IRGC.
