As 2023 ends, the bloodshed in Gaza continues on the day 86 of the Israeli war. However, resistance fighters insist on making this year unforgettable for Israeli occupation forces by engaging in epic confrontations in several fronts across the war-torn strip.
In the last hours of 2023, the Health Ministry in Gaza said the death toll of the brutal aggression neared 22,000, while the number of injured people surpassed 56,400.
100 people were martyred and 286 were wounded in Israeli attacks in Gaza in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 21,822, the ministry said.
The Israeli attacks sparred no area across the besieged enclave, with prominent air strikes and shelling targeting Nusseirat refugee camp and Zietoun neighborhood in Gaza city, as well as Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza Strip and Khan Yunis in the south, Palestinian media reported.
Among the martyrs announced on Sunday was Sheikh Yousef Salameh, the former Palestinian Minister of Endowments (Awkaf) and a former Al-Aqsa Mosque preacher. He was martyred in an Israeli strike on Central Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, the Government Media Office said that the relentless Israeli bombardment of Gaza for nearly three months has destroyed 70 percent of the homes in the besieged Palestinian enclave.
An earlier report said more than 200 heritage and archaeological sites were destroyed in the Israeli bombardment considered the most destructive in modern history.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday that about 300,000 out of 439,000 homes have been destroyed in Israeli attacks.
Analyzing satellite imagery, the 29,000 bombs dropped on the strip have targeted residential areas, Byzantine churches, hospitals and shopping centers and all civilian infrastructure has been damaged to an extent that they cannot be repaired, the report said.
Israeli Losses
On the other hand, the resistance fighters inflicted heavy losses upon the Israeli occupation on both the casualties and equipment level.
The Israeli occupation army announced on Sunday the death of two more soldiers, taking to 172 the death toll of Gaza ground offensive.
Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas resistance movement said its fighters fired several Shawaz and Yassine-105 projectiles on Israeli tanks and vehicle in Al-Tuffah and Al-Daraj neighborhoods in Gaza city. The two neighborhoods also witnessed fierce clashes between Al-Qassam fighters and Israeli occupation forces.

The resistance group announced, meanwhile, that its fighters fired Sam-7 missile at an Israeli Apache.
Earlier on Saturday, Al-Qassam released a video showing its fighters engaging in fierce clashes at point-blank range in Khan Yunis.
For its part, Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad resistance movement, announced on Sunday that its fighters fired heavy mortar shells at Israeli gathering in Tal Al-Hawa in southwest of the city of Gaza.
The group said that its fighters sniped an Israeli soldier in Al-Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza city. Elsewhere in Shejaiya, confirmed casualties were reported among occupation soldiers as Al-Quds Brigades’ fighters managed to detonate a tunnel shaft as occupation soldiers approached the area, the resistance group said.
