Zionist entity saw another week of intense protests against the right-wing government’s campaign to implement so called judicial reforms. Tens of thousands of Israeli settlers demonstrated across the occupied territories for the 35th week in a row.
In Tel Aviv, approximately 100,000 protesters gathered in a location recently designated as Democracy Square, situated along Kaplan Street. The naming of the square draws inspiration from the weekly protests organized by the Israeli opposition.
Protest organizers explained that “the statements made by the alliance (the current government coalition) against the Israeli army, the Shin Bet, the Mossad, and the security agencies in recent weeks demonstrate the magnitude of the danger to ‘Israel’.” They added that protests are the only way to prevent the destruction of Israeli society and institutions.
This week’s protests revealed the deep schism created by Netanyahu’s government’s judicial overhaul campaign. Even the security and military establishment participated, particularly among reservists, where a sizeable number of them declared their refusal to serve in the occupation army.
Experts believe that this wave has put the Israeli occupation army in a precarious and dangerous position, disrupting its functions and dealing “deep damage to its efficiency.” The occupation military is heavily dependent on its reserve force to carry out its missions, especially during moments of turmoil.
While the protests against the judicial amendments continued, violent clashes erupted between Eritrean asylum seekers and Israeli police. More than 170 people were injured, including around 50 members of the occupation police.
The demonstration was organized by Eritrean nationals who opposed their home government and was sparked by a festival organized by the Eritrean government’s embassy in Yad Harutzim, leading to brawls between pro and anti-government Eritreans.
The situation in ‘Israel’ remains tense, with no signs of protest momentum slowing down.
