In a recent act of aggression, Israeli occupation forces conducted a series of air raids on the capital city of Damascus, as reported by the Syrian military. The attack took place on Sunday evening and was met with effective resistance, as Syrian air defences successfully intercepted the majority of the missiles launched by the Israeli forces. Thankfully, only minor material damage was reported.
According to a Syrian military source, the attack targeted numerous sites and originated from the direction of the Syrian Golan Heights. This marks the latest in a string of Israeli airstrikes on Syria, with the most recent ones occurring at the beginning of May, including over five strikes in and around Aleppo.
The state-run Syrian news agency, SANA, affirmed that the country’s missile defence systems skillfully intercepted the Israeli aggression directed towards Aleppo, successfully bringing down several missiles in the process. This demonstrated the determination of the Syrian military to protect their territory and citizens from external threats.
While tensions persist between “Israel” and Syria, the interception of the majority of missiles by Syrian air defences serves as a testament to their capability and dedication to safeguarding their nation’s sovereignty. However, the recurring nature of such acts underscores the ongoing volatility in the region and the urgent need for diplomatic efforts to deescalate tensions and promote stability for the benefit of all parties involved.
