Accompanied by a high-ranking economic and banking delegation, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani will travel to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, March 16.
The secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council will travel to Abu Dhabi at the official invitation of his Emirati counterpart on Thursday.
Shamkhani’s landmark trip will be made in response to a visit paid by the UAE’s national security adviser, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to Tehran in December 2021.
During the upcoming visit, Shamkhani is scheduled to hold talks with his Emirati counterpart and other top officials about bilateral, regional and international issues, according to Nour News.
He will reportedly be accompanied by a high-ranking delegation of Iranian economic and banking officials.
Nour News said in a tweet on Tuesday night that the purpose of the trip to the UAE is to “meet with the high officials of that country and to resolve some important security and economic cases.”
Following days of intensive talks in Beijing, Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed on March 10 to resume their diplomatic relations and reopen their embassies and diplomatic missions within at most two months.
The Arab governments neighboring Iran have eagerly welcomed the rapprochement between the two regional heavyweights.
