Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said the Islamic Republic is not going to abandon talks on the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal and lifting of anti-Iran sanctions.
“We will not walk away from the negotiating table as diplomacy works properly,” Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodríguez on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s meeting in New York.
Pointing to the latest developments pertaining to the nuclear agreement, the top Iranian diplomat said if the US government has the necessary will to make a decision, a deal will be within reach.
The top Iranian diplomat, however, noted that the US has thus far failed to make a realistic decision to this end, Tasnim news agency reported on Tuesday.
The two top diplomats also exchanged views about issues of mutual interest.
Amir Abdollahian spoke about the latest developments in bilateral relations between Iran and the friendly country of Cuba, particularly their cooperation in vaccine production, and underlined the need to pursue and implement all agreements.
He condemned Western countries for resorting to different methods to meddle in the internal affairs of other nations, including Iran and Cuba, under various pretexts and for inciting people’s feelings.
Amir Abdollahian said the Islamic Republic of Iran has the required capabilities and skills to contain and counter this sort of foreign meddling and abuse of people’s feelings, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
For his part, the Cuban foreign minister underlined that his country’s leadership is determined to expand ties with Iran.
Bruno Rodríguez also supported the notion of increasing contacts and trips between Iranian and Cuban officials and invited Amir Abdollahian to visit Havana.
He also discussed ways of expanding bilateral ties and regional developments, stressing that Cuba supports Iran in boosting cooperation in various fields as well as with regard to regional and international issues.
