The Iranian ministry of foreign affairs condemned Sunday the assassination of Colonel Hassan Sayyad Khodaei, offering its condolences to his family members while describing the murder as “a crime against humanity.”
“Iran’s enemies have once again revealed their evil nature by assassinating a member of the sacrificing Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatabzadeh said.
“The inhumane crime was committed by anti-revolutionary terrorists backed by the powers of global arrogance, and they are supported by countries championing counterterrorism,” Khatibzadeh added.
He also underlined that Iran has been the victim of terrorism for more than four decades, noting that the terrorists were trying to obstruct the Iranian people from moving toward “realizing their righteous ideals and obstructing their glorious path.”
The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) announced Sunday that one of its officers, Hassan Sayyad Khodaei, was assassinated in front of his house in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
In a statement, the IRGC indicated that the Colonel was martyred with five bullets shot by two terrorists mounting a motorcycle, adding that necessary actions were underway to arrest the perpetrators.
An informed source told local Iranian media that the assassination was carried out at Mojahedin-e-Islam Street.
