Head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council Sayyed Hashem Safieddine said on Thursday that rivals of the Lebanese Resistance party, along with their backers, are losing time by betting on results of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
In local ceremony in south Lebanon, Sayyed Safieddine said Hezbollah “along with all loyal people will be ready in the elections to build an honored country.”
“We know very well that there have been many crises and problems and we, all together, have to solve them. We have never claimed that we are capable of solving the country’s problems alone. Unlike our rivals, we always call for partnership. However, they always adopt provocative rhetoric,” the Hezbollah senior official said in remarks carried by Al-Manar.
“Those weak losers who raise slogans like undermining Hezbollah and the Resistance through the parliamentary elections know very well that this battle is futile. And those who back them also knows that the elections are not the appropriate chance to take revenge on Hezbollah or weaken it.”
He stressed that all those who bet on the results of the elections to undermine Hezbollah will lose, along with their sponsors who have been paying a lot to implement such goals.
Commenting on claims that Hezbollah is harming Lebanon’s ties with Arab states, Sayyed Safieddine said: “We are more Arabs than those who claim to defend the Arab nation. The meaning of Arab affiliation is demonstrated by defending the most important issue, which is the Palestinian cause.”
