Yemeni officials offered condolences on the death of Hassan Irloo, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Sanaa, as the Yemeni ambassador to Tehran blamed the Saudi-led aggression over the Iranian’s diplomat’s death.
The Spokesman for the Yemeni Ansarullah Movement Mohammed Abdul Salam condoled the Iranian leadership and people over the passing away of Irloo who died earlier today of coronavirus.
For his part, Yemeni Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein Al-Azzi has also expressed condolences to the leadership and the people of the Islamic Republic, as well as the ambassador’s family.
“We’ve lost a wonderful friend who was a model for successful and special diplomat,” Al-Azzi said, as quoted by Yemen’s Al-Massirah TV.
Meanwhile, Yemeni Ambassador to Tehran Ibrahim Al-Dailami said Irloo’s health deteriorated in Sanaa due to coronavirus-related complications.
“Officials from Iran, Iraq and Oman have been for ten days exerting efforts to evacuate the Iranian envoy.”
“We hold the aggression powers responsible over negligence and delay in the evacuation of ambassador Irloo,” Al-Dailami said.
“The aggression powers, which have been imposing blockade on Yemen and Sanaa Airport fell behind the evacuation of the Iranian ambassador, which led to deterioration in his health,” the Yemeni diplomat said.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson announced that the Iranian ambassador to Yemen Hassan Irloo passed away on Tuesday morning after contracting COVID-19.
Irloo, who was also a chemical warfare veteran, contracted COVID-19 at his mission site in Yemen.
