The death toll from the COVID-19 pandemic in Iran has surpassed 128,000, the Health Ministry said.
Figures released by the ministry on Saturday show that the coronavirus has taken the lives of 124 patients over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll since the outbreak of the pandemic in February 2020 to 128,042.
According to the statistics, 4,306 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been reported across the country over the past 24 hours, with 784 of them hospitalized.
More than 5.68 million individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 6,031,000 who have contracted the disease, the Health Ministry added.
Some 3,533 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.
It also said that more than 55.57 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 42.18 million have received the second dosage.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 253 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.1 million.
