Lebanese President Michel Aoun received on Thursday visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and the accompanying delegation.
President Aoun stressed to Abdollahian Lebanon’s support for the efforts exerted by the Islamic Republic of Iran to enhance rapprochement between Iran and regional countries, especially Arab countries, through the existing dialogue.
The Lebanese president also considered that such dialogue would bring view on disputed issues closer, praising Iran’s solidarity with Lebanon in facing crises, and the assistance it provided after the Beirut Port explosion.
Moreover, President Aoun conveyed his greetings to his Iranian counterpart Ibrahim Raisi, and the friendly Iranian people, wishing them continuous progress.
For his side, Abdollahian had conveyed President Raisi’s greetings and reiterated Iran’s firm support for Lebanon.
He affirmed Tehran’s readiness to provide all support for Lebanese needs, especially in the current difficult economic circumstances.
In addition, the top Iranian diplomat “presented to President Aoun, an overview of Iran’s position on regional and international developments, the atmospheres of the negotiations which Tehran is conducting with numerous Arab and Foreign countries, and current proposals for their improvement and development, as well as those related to the nuclear file,” Lebanese Presidency Office said in a statement.
Amir Abdollahian arrived in Beirut Late Wednesday, on an official visit during which the Iranian diplomat will meet many Lebanese officials.
