Grand Mufti of Syria, Sheikh Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun, visited on Wednesday Lebanon, meeting President Michel Aoun and Maronite Patriarch Beshara Al-Rai.
Sheikh Hassoun congratulated President Aoun over his election, hailing during their meeting, which was also attended by Syria ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul Karim Ali, the constitutional step and stressing that Aoun is “patriotic man”.
His eminence also called on all the Lebanese political parties who are on bad terms with Syria to reconcile.
Hassoun and Ali held talks later in the day with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi at the seat of the Maronite church in Bkirki, stressing that Aleppo has not been destroyed in the way they [terrorists] wanted, yet terrorists are withdrawing from the city after their defeat.
