Health Minister Hamad Hasan warned that Lebanon is facing dangerous shift in battling coronavirus, slamming citizens for not abiding by health protocols.
In an interview with Al-Manar late Wednesday, Minister Hasan said Lebanon is in the midst of the battle against the second wave of coronavirus.
“Yesterday (Tuesday) we had 12 coronavirus related deaths in addition to the increasing number of infections. This indicates a dangerous shift in the course of the pandemic.”
He called for respecting the state of general mobilization announced by the Higher Defense Council.
“People have to take the measures seriously. The people’s commitment to the measures sometimes is being just for show off aims. We are witnessing lockdown in the major markets and neighborhoods, but the people are not abiding by the measures in the small market and Subsidiary roads,” the minister said.
He said the figures in the fifth day of the two-week lockdown were discouraging.
“The number of infections on Tuesday reached 532 out of 8,500 PCR tests, while today we have 561 infections out of 7,300 PCR tests. The percent of infections today is higher, and this means that people are failing to abide by anti-coronavirus measures.”
