Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said that delivery of three domestically-built Kowsar fighter jets to Army Air Force carried a message to the enemies, US in particular, that the US sanctions have worked to the contrary.
Brigadier General Hatami made the remarks at a ceremony on Thursday.
When Kowsar jets were delivered to Iran Air Force, they conveyed an important message across the world that all freedom-seeking nations will be independent and self-sufficient if they resist, Hatami stressed.
Today, there are all technical capabilities available inside Iran for the construction of the air force infrastructure, he added.
In August 2018, the Kowsar indigenous fighter jet was unveiled, and its mass production line was launched just three months later, Hatami noted as he appreciated the efforts made by Iranian experts and engineers in this domain.
Iran will soon produce more modern air equipment indigenously, the minister noted.
Manufacturing Kowsar, which is a short-range air support aircraft, has put Iran among the few countries with the technology of designing and producing the 4th generation avionics and fire control systems.
The aircraft will be produced in both single and two-seat versions.
