Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, arrived in Beirut on Thursday evening, coming from Iran aboard a private jet, in the framework of a visit during which he shall offer congratulations on behalf of Iran to General Michel Aoun, on his election as President of the Republic.
Minister Zarif is accompanied by a large delegation comprising of around 45 economic and political magnates.
Zarif will also hold talks respectively with House Speaker Nabih Berri, Caretaker Prime Minister Tammam Salam and Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri, in addition to a number of political and spiritual dignitaries, over the latest developments in Lebanon and the region.
Greeting him at Rafic Hariri International Airport have been MP Ali Bazzi representing Speaker Nabih Berri, Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammed Fateh Ali, and Embassy senior staff.
Zarif stated that the steadfastness of the Lebanese people and resistance will lead to the defeat of the takfiri terrorists, stressing that Iran will always support Lebanon.
