Parliamentary by-elections started on Sunday in Tripoli to elect a Sunni Deputy to fill the vacancy after the Constitutional Council invalidated the election of MP Dima Jamali
The National News Agency (NNA) reported that polling stations across the northern province opened at 7:00 a.m., adding that the turnout was low up till 10:00 a.m.
The by-election was called after unsuccessful parliamentary candidate Taha Naji made an appeal against the election of Future Movement member Dima Jamali.
Jamali has been backed by Prime Minister Saad Hariri, who heads the Future Movement, as well as former premier Najib Mikati and former ministers Ashraf Rifi and Mohammad Safadi.
Seven Candidates are competing with Jamali for one seat in Tripoli.
