A Palestinian teen was martyred on Wednesday after being shot by Israeli fire during night protest at the border between Gaza and the occupied territories.
Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said Saif A-Din Abu Zaied, 15, was wounded in the head Wednesday then succumbed to injuries at Shifaa Hospital.
Palestinian sources also said 5 protesters were injured by live bullets fired by IOF, adding that many others were wounded as occupation forces used tear gas.
A ceasefire agreement between Palestinian resistance and the Zionist entity last November had included a freeze of night-time protests in Gaza, which are known as ‘Night Confusion protests” in return for easing the blockade on the besieged strip.
However, evening demonstrations have returned last month, in a move that the Palestinian resistance protests against Israeli failed promises regarding the ceasefire.
Palestinians in Gaza have been demonstrating as part of the Great March of Return for nearly a year since 30 March 2018, calling for an end to the crippling 11-year Israeli blockade of the small coastal enclave, as well as the implementation of the right of return for Palestinian refugees, who form an overwhelming majority of Gaza’s population.
More than 250 Palestinians in Gaza have been martyred and some 26,000 injured since the demonstrations began, mostly by Israeli fire during protests but also by air and tank strikes.
Two Israeli soldiers have been killed over the same period, one by a Palestinian sniper and another during a botched Israeli special forces operation within the Gaza Strip.
