Iran condemned on Friday ISIL terrorist attack in Spain’s Barcelona, as it voiced readiness to cooperate in countering terrorism.
In a press conference on Friday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi condemned Thursday’s attack, urging to form a global unity against terrorism.
He condoled with and expressed sympathy for bereaved families of the terrorist attack victims.
The Iranian FM spokesman further warned against growing terror attacks across the globe, saying no country – even the obvious and secret supporters of terrorists – is immune to terrorism’s threats.
“Following the widespread defeat of the extremist terrorists in the region, the spread of terrorist operations around the world is on the agenda of these perpetrators, and the killing of civilian and innocent people is their sinister goal,” he noted.
Qassemi called all countries, in spite of any possible controversy, to put their prime priority on the fight against terrorism and extremism to eradicate these death traders. He also expressed Iran’s readiness for cooperation with the global community in fighting against terrorism.
At least 13 people were killed and 100 injured on Thursday when a driver deliberately slammed a van into crowds on Barcelona’s most popular street in what police confirmed was a terrorist attack. ISIL claimed responsibility of the attack.
