Syrian President Bashar Assad said that the situation in Syria has improved dramatically due to retreat by terrorist Wahhabi groups.
In an interview with India’s Wion TV, Assad said that the situation on the ground, from a military point of view, is much better than before.
“But this is not the whole picture,” the Syrian president said, noting: “this is not only about military conflict, but is about different things including the ideology that the terrorists try to spread in our region, which is the most dangerous challenge that we may face in the near and long term.”
Assad hailed the Indian stance towards the Syrian crisis, saying it is based on international law.
“We respect a lot the Indian position, because first of all it’s based on the international law, it’s based on the charter of the United Nations, it’s based on the morals of the world, of the human civilizations first, and Indian civilization second, the Indian people’s morals,” he said, noting that in spite all the Western pressure on every country including India to join the embargo against the Syrian people, India wouldn’t cease its relation with Syria.
