Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri slammed those who have been stirring fear of an Israeli war on Lebanon.
In remarks carried by local media on Wednesday, the Speaker said: “Such discourse, regardless of the nature of Israeli intentions, is strange and inconsistent with the spirit of national responsibility.”
Meanwhile, Berri lauded President Joseph Aoun’s approach in dealing with the negotiations with the US and the Hezbollah arms file.
“The approach he is adopting in dealing with this file is good and appreciated,” the Lebanese speaker added.
As for rumors on alleged dispute with Hezbollah, Berri said: “Neither I, nor Hezb are aware (of such claims)… Let them gossip,” referring to the shortened name of Hezbollah.
Berri was asked about remarks by US envoy Tom Barrack, who said earlier this week that “as long as Hezbollah retains arms, words will not suffice.”
The Lebanese speaker commented: “His words are addressing the Lebanese Government. As for me, I’m concerned with continuing to seek solutions.”
The Israeli enemy continues to bomb southern Lebanon almost daily and maintains occupation over five posts along the southern border, in violation of a ceasefire deal reached following a brutal 66-day Israeli war between September and November 2024.

The Zionist occupation has also struck Beirut four times since the ceasefire agreement.
Meanwhile, the US has been leading pressures on the Lebanese Government on the issue of disarming Hezbollah.
