Israeli passengers on a cruise ship docked on the island of Syros in Greece were unable to disembark due to large pro-Palestinian protests at the dock on Tuesday, out of concern for passenger safety.
MS Crown Iris, a ship owned by Mano Maritime, an Israeli cruise line, flying under the Panamanian flag, departed from occupied Haifa on Sunday, stopped in Rhodes, and arrived in Syros on Tuesday.
Passengers were scheduled to disembark between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., but due to the demonstrations, they were forced to remain on board.
Protesters near the Syros dock flew Palestinian flags, held banners reading slogans including “Stop the Genocide,” and “No AC (Air Conditioning) in Hell.”
According to Greek media sources, there were approximately 300 protesters. Israeli passengers who were cited in Israeli media estimated that there were approximately 100-120 protesters.
No police boarded the ship, officials confirmed to Walla.
