The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the deceased as 18-year-old Mohammed Madhat Amin Amer, who was shot dead by Israeli occupation troops during the incursion.

The ministry added that “9 injuries, including 4 in critical condition, were transferred from Balata camp during the raid by the occupation forces.”
In response to the raid, Saraya al-Quds, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, announced that its fighters had confronted the Israeli forces storming the eastern areas of Balata camp. The resistance group said it unleashed heavy gunfire and explosive devices at the Israeli occupation troops and military vehicles.
According to local sources, Israeli occupation forces entered the outskirts of Balata camp from the nearby Awarta checkpoint and deployed snipers on the roofs of buildings. The troops opened fire on residents, injuring several. Ambulances were reportedly prevented from entering the camp to evacuate the wounded.

Balata, established in 1950, is the largest refugee camp in the occupied West Bank and a frequent site of Israeli military operations. The densely populated camp has been subjected to repeated raids, arrests, and clashes over the years. Tuesday’s deadly incursion is likely to heighten tensions and spark further confrontations in the area.
