Yocheved Lifshitz, an elderly Israeli hostage who was released from Gaza, told reporters on Tuesday that Hamas fighters treated her well during captivity.
“When we arrived in Gaza, they told us at first that they believed in Quran and thus would not harm us,” she said.
Lifshitz noted that Hamas fighters said they would treat us as they treated those around them, adding that she was under a heavy guard.
Lifshitz also talked about the medical care she received from Hamas, noting that she used to be inspected during captivity by the group’s doctors.
She pointed out that Hamas fighters showed keenness on providing her with all the medicines she needed, adding that adequate food was also granted to the captives.
“They paid attention to every detail, including providing a shampoo conditioner.”
On the other hand, Lifshitz indicated that the lack of competence of the Israeli occupation army and Shin Bet hurt the captives a lot.
“We were made a scapegoat for the government.”
In early October, Hamas launched a surprise attack against the Israeli occupation, naming it the Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. The Palestinian Resistance killed hundreds of Zionists and captured around 250 of them.
