Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah received Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amirabdollahian and the accompanying delegation, the Lebanese resistance party announced on Friday.
Sayyed Nasrallah discussed with the Iranian FM the latest development in Lebanon and the region, a statement released by Hezbollah’s Media Relations read.
The meeting was also attended by the Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mujtaba Amani, the statement added.
The top Iranian diplomat arrived in Beirut on Thursday after a two-day visit to Syria.
Meeting with House Speaker
House Speaker, Nabih Berri, met at his Ain Al-Tineh residence with Amirabdollahian who expressed Iran’s keenness on Lebanon’s security and stability.
Amirabdollahian handed Speaker Berri an invitation from his Iranian counterpart to visit Tehran, stressing that the Iranian-Saudi ties are progressing and will positively affect the regional developments.
For his part, Speaker Berri indicated that one of the most important causes of the foreign pressures on Lebanon is targeting the Resistance.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdullah Bou Habib, on Friday met with visiting Amirabdollahian.
The Iranian Minister indicated after his meeting with Bou Habib that electing a president was an internal Lebanese matter.
“Lebanese leaders possess the necessary competence and wisdom to reach an agreement and elect a president,” Abdollahian said, adding that discussions with Bou Habib have also touched on all the bilateral dossiers, as well as on Iran’s readiness to enhance economic cooperation with Lebanon.
“We are also ready to cooperate with Lebanon to solve the electricity crisis,” Abdollahian added, pointing out that “cooperation between Iran and Lebanon will be in the entire region’s interest.”
Meeting with Palestinian Resistance Leaders
Separately, Amir Abdollahian held an extended meeting with the leaders of the Palestinian resistance movements of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad, Iranian media reported.
Both sides laid emphasis during the meeting on the need for the liberation of Palestine from Israeli occupation, according to Press TV.
The Iranian FM reiterated that the Islamic Republic was still committed to its strategy of lending support to the Palestinian nation and resistance.
For their part, the Palestinian officials said that the resistance was the strategic option for the Palestinian nation, Sputnik news agency reported.
As they affirmed that the operations in the West Bank is a priority, the resistance leaders vowed to keep up the attacks against occupation forces in the West Bank.
Press conference
Iran FM held a press conference to conclude his visit to Beirut, stressing that the Iranian-Lebanese relations are strategic.
Amirabdollahian affirmed that Iran won’t hesitate to provide Lebanon with any necessary need without intervening in its domestic issues.
Amirabdollahian noted that Iran will continue supporting the axis of resistance, adding that Palestinian factions are ready to face any Zionist aggression.
