Hezbollah’s first aid convoy has reached on Monday the Syrian city of Latakia which was badly hit by a devastating earthquake on February 6.
The convoy, dubbed “Compassionate”, includes 22 trucks loaded with food, medical and humanitarian aids to the quake-hit area.
Adnan Al-Mokaddem, Head of Civil Defense at the Islamic Health Association, a Hezbollah-affiliated health institution, told Al-Manar that “Compassionate” is the first Hezbollah convoy that delivers aid “to the Syrian brothers in Latakia,” adding that others convoys will be dispatched for Aleppo and other Syrian cities later this week.
“Despite economic and social sufferings Lebanese people have been witnessing, they rushed to offer aid their Syrian brothers.”
The first aid convoy to Syria took its way from Beirut’s southern suburb (Dahiyeh) on Sunday.
A powerful 7.8 magnitude rocked Turkey and Syria on February 6, killing tens of thousands of people, injuring tens of thousands others and leaving many more homeless in bad weather.
