Iranian authorities announced on Tuesday they have arrested teams working for to Mossad Israeli spy agency.
In a statement, the Iranian Intelligence Ministry said it has arrested at least 13 members of two “espionage and terrorist” teams linked to Mossad.
Two more espionage teams have been identified and arrested, taking to six the number of groups dismantled across the Islamic Republic so far, IRNA news agency reported.
“23 members of the terrorist network were identified in Tehran, Isfahan, Yazd, West Azarbaijan, and Golestan provinces, 13 of whom were inside the country and arrested, and their equipment has also been seized,” the public relations office of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence reported, as cited by the Iranian state media.
The leader of the terrorist group, Alias Siroos, was residing in a European country and directing its agents inside Iran through social media to make sabotage acts, the statement read.
“According to the latest findings, the Mossad spy-terrorist organization, benefiting from recent unrest in Iran, intended to assassinate a military official and carry out several sabotage operations in the country’s major cities,” Mehr news agency reported, citing the statement.
The Israeli regime spying organization also was planning to transfer a large scale of explosives from the southern sea borders into the country, the statement added.
