The Lebanese President Michel Aoun stressed that Lebanon will face harder conditions if the new government is not formed, indicating that the Free Patriotic Movement, as the rest of the parties, has the right to nominate the ministers who represent it.
In a farewell interview with Al-Manar TV two days before he leaves Baabda Palace, President Aoun said that he would facilitate the cabinet formation if PM-designate Najib Mikati proposes a balanced lineup.
The six-year term of President Aoun will end on Monday, October 31, 2022, amid fears of a presidential vacuum that worsens the repercussions of PM-designate Najib Mikati’s failure to form a new government.
President Aoun hailed the role of the Resistance power in reaching the maritime deal, adding that the offshore resource represent the remaining hope with respect to the Lebanese.
President Aoun pointed out that his relation with Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah is based on openness, adding that the two sides share the same political beliefs pertaining the national interests.
President Aoun noted that he is concerned with responding to all false accusations thrown on him, adding that he wakes up in the early morning and start working actively.
