The 6th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) kicked off today in Kazakhstan’s capital with participation of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Kazakhstan’s capital on Wednesday evening to attend the 6th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
Speaking to reporters before departure for Astana, President Raisi said that the foreign policy of his administration is based on building relations with regional and trans-regional organizations.
The president added that during his short stay in Kazakhstan’s capital, he would have meetings with his counterparts from the member countries.
He said that cooperation with regional and trans-regional organizations could strengthen convergence, good neighborliness, and multilateralism.
The president said that cooperation with organizations such as CICA could help Iran build good connections with the economic infrastructure of Asia.
The role of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a powerful country with different capacities, can be an opportunity for other Asian countries which brings about peace, stability, and security, he said.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-abdollahian and the Deputy Chief of Staff for Political Affairs to Iranian President Mohammad Jamshidi are accompanying the President during this trip.
CICA is an international forum for strengthening cooperation in line with peace, security, and tranquility in Asia.
Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, South Korea, China, Russia, India, Palestine, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, and Thailand are some members of the 27-member forum.
