A Palestinian was martyred and another was seriously injured in two alleged stabbing attacks in West Bank and Al-Quds late Sunday.
Israeli media reported that an occupation officer shot dead a Palestinian who was allegedly armed with a knife while infiltrating the West Bank settlement of Tekoa on Sunday night.
Sirens resounded in the settlement and Zionist settlers were told to lock their doors, Israeli media reported, citing Israeli emergency service as saying.
The Palestinian Authority Health Ministry identified the martyred Palestinian as 17-year-old Muatasem Mohammad Taleb Atallah. According to the ministry, Atallah was from Harmala, a small village adjacent to Tekoa.
Atallah was later claimed by Hamas Palestinian Resistance movement as one of its member.
Earlier on Sunday, an occupation police officer was stabbed and moderately hurt by a Palestinian youth at Al-Quds’ Damascus Gate.
The alleged attacker — a Palestinian from the West Bank— was taken into a police booth that overlooks the entrance to the Old City for questioning, after Israeli officers found him to be suspicious the Times of Israeli reported, quoting Israeli occupation police.
The assailant then drew a knife and stabbed the officer in the neck, the Times of Israeli reported, according to Israeli medics, as reported by Israeli media.
Other Israeli officers at the scene shot the Palestinian, occupation police said. The Palestinian youth was listed in critical condition and was taken to Hadassah Hospital in Ein Karem for further medical treatment.
He was named as 20-year-old Nadheer Marzouq, from the West Bank town of Abwein, north of Ramallah, according to his lawyer Khaldoun Najm.
