Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh welcomed the two-month truce in Yemen set up on UN special envoy’s initiative.
In a statement issued early on Saturday, Khatibzadeh expressed hope that the measure could pave the way for full removal of the blockade on permanent ceasefire to allow for a political solution for Yemen crisis.
We hope for an improvement in humanitarian conditions and full exchange of prisoners between the parties involved on the eve of Ramadan month.
UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg announced on Friday a two-month truce, adding that it comes into effect on Saturday, April 2, at 19:00.
“The parties accepted to halt all offensive military air, ground and maritime operations inside Yemen and across its borders,” Grundberg said in a press statement.
