The first batch of Lebanese nationals fleeing the deadly crisis in Ukraine arrived in Beirut at dawn on Wednesday.
The group pf Lebanese, which includes 40 students, arrived at Beirut International Airport, coming from the Romanian capital, Bucharest.
At the airport, Secretary General of High Relief Commission, Major General Mohammed Khair received the Lebanese nationals, who urged him to follow up on the conditions of the Lebanese in Ukraine as well as those who fled the deadly crisis and have been stranded at border with Romania and Poland.
A delegation representing the Lebanese Association for Parents of Students in Foreign Universities also arrived at the airport to receive the Lebanese nationals coming from Ukraine. The association stressed importance of approving the “Student Dollar Law” amid these hard conditions.
Estimates put the number of Lebanese nationals in Ukraine at around 4,300, including 1,000 students.
