Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi underlined the need for strict monitoring of the implementation of the health protocols and guidelines for preventing spread of COVID-19.
Speaking at the meeting of the Coronavirus Fight National Headquarters on Saturday, the president referred to the rapid spread of the new coronavirus variant, stressing the need to pay serious attention to preventive measures.
“Simply receiving the vaccine is not enough, and public education should be provided to improve public health and to observe social distancing,” Raisi said.
“In order to prevent the disease, we need to pay serious attention to it. The executive bodies should not insist on holding meetings and ceremonies unless necessary, observing health protocols,” he added.
The president further said, “The IRIB has an important role in informing the people and public education, and a single voice in informing about coronavirus should be published in the media, and in the field of resolutions and decisions of the Coronavirus Fight National Headquarters, only the spokesman of the headquarters has the duty to inform,” according to president.ir website.
He went on to say that the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the relevant agencies, is obliged to have full supervision over the observance of the health protocols and resolutions of the headquarters.
Iran’s Health Ministry said on Friday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 6,761,800 following the detection of 31,247 new cases since a day earlier.
