The number of coronavirus deaths in Iran during the past 24 hours reached a tragic record, exceeding 700 on Tuesday.
As the coronavirus is plaguing Iran in the fifth wave since its outbreak in February 2020, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday that 709 patients have died over the past 24 hours.
The total death toll from COVID-19 in Iran has exceeded 103,350.
The number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has surpassed 4,756,300 following the detection of 40,623 new cases since Monday, more than 5,480 of whom have been admitted to the hospital.
More than 3,993,200 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, according to the Health Ministry’s figures.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 7,727 coronavirus patients are being kept in the intensive care units.
More than 28.09 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 17.23 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 213 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.45 million.
