Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati said, in a statement from Baabda Palace after his meeting with President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, that he briefed the latter on the non-binding parliamentary consultations that took place today, and stressed “the importance of forming a government as soon as possible.”
He pointed out that “views are identical to a very large extent, and we will hold successive meetings in the coming days, and God willing, we will have a government soon.”
Mikati had held on Tuesday the non-binding parliamentary consultations aimed at creating the new government after being nominated by 73 members of the parliament in the binding consultations held by President Aoun a day earlier.
