Upon the meetings the Iraqi health minister, Dr. Hasan Al-Tamimi, held in Beirut, an agreement on the mechanisms of medical-economic cooperation between the two countries has been concluded.
Al-Tamimi discussed the above mentioned mechanisms with his Lebanese counterpart, Dr. Hamad Hasan, after inspecting the pioneer hospitals in Lebanon.
According to the agreement, Lebanese medics will periodically visit Iraq to perform surgeries after obtaining official licenses from the authorities in Baghdad.
The agreement also stipulates that Lebanese doctors hold workshops in Baghdad to train the Iraqi medics and that Iraq can benefit from the Lebanese medical drug manufacturing factories.
Lebanon, whose government must approve the deal, would import, in return, the Iraqi oil, without losing the hard currency amid its economic crisis.
