Lebanese caretaker Interior Minister Mohammed Fahmy stressed that the latest events in Tripoli were not spontaneous, noting that the situation in the northern city was under control.
In an interview with Al-Manar’s Imad Marmal on Friday, Fahmy said: “what’s happening in Tripoli is not spontaneous, mobilizing people can’t be without funds.”
Tripoli’s people have not been engaged in latest riots, the minister told Al-Manar, noting that there have been infiltrators who carried out sabotage acts and burned the municipality.
He noted that the security apparatus made several arrests, assuring that the Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces “won’t allow rioters to tamper with state’s dignity.”
