Calm returned to the northern city of Tripoli after a stormy night of confrontations between demonstrators protesting the lockdown amid difficult living conditions and the security forces who tried to prevent rioters from storming the Tripoli Serail.
The clashes resulted in the death of a young man from Bab al-Tabbaneh and the injury of many within the ranks of protesters and security forces.
Most injuries were minor and thus treated at the scene of the clashes, National News Agency (NNA) reported.
At dawn, roads were reopened on Thursday, while the Beddawi highway remained cut off in both directions by trucks and tires.
Workers at the Tripoli municipality and “Lavajet” cleaning company worked to clean the streets that witnessed the confrontations, and clear the rubble, stones and waste containers used to cut off the roads.
