Lebanese President Michel Aoun received on Friday German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Baabda Palace, a first meeting of its kind between the official and the President.

Earlier, Aoun received the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, stressing the significance of the political solution for the situation in Syria.

For his part, Çavuşoğlu said that stabilization in Lebanon is a very important factor in the region.

Steinmeier and Çavuşoğlu had met earlier the Lebanese counterpart, Gebran Bassil, who stressed that Lebanon will not abandon his right to natural gas and will keep on fighting terrorism.
