Syria and Russia affirmed on Wednesday that the international conference on the return of refugees recently held in Damascus was a first step to coordinate international efforts for a real solution to the return of Syrian refugees from abroad despite the large attempts done by the US and its allies to boycott the conference and impede the return of the displaced to their areas liberated from terrorism.
The Syrian and Russian coordination committees on the Return of the Syrian Refugees said in a joint statement issued following a meeting via video Conference that the conference outcomes stressed that common efforts that would be exerted by the parties concerned will make the solution to the return of the refugees a success.
The two sides added that the conference participants condemned the illegitimate foreign presence which contradicts the Charter of the UN, and the occupation of some Syrian lands in addition to looting Natural resources, impeding the return of Syrian citizens to their lands and imposing unilateral coercive measures by the United States.
In the same context, Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Hussein Makhlouf, affirmed in a speech during the meeting that despite the unilateral coercive economic measures Imposed by the US and its allies on the Syrian people, the Syrian State seeks to secure the requirements for the return of the refugees in the areas liberated by the Syrian Arab Army and restore institutions, services, and rehabilitating the infrastructure.
