The Iranian ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad-Jalal Firouznia visited Thursday Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, at his Patriarchal Summer Residence in Al-Diman, confirming Iran’s support to all the Lebanese.
Firouznia voiced Iran’s full readiness to support the Lebanese state, government and people, saying “this support comes within the context of coordination and cooperation with the Lebanese government and in the interest of the Lebanese people.”
The Iranian diplomat also indicated that Iran’s principled and fixed position is to build bridges of affinity and communication with the all the spectrum of the brotherly Lebanese people.
In response to a question about the issue of neutrality proposed by Patriarch Rahi, Ambassador Firouznia said that “Iran does not interfere in Lebanon’s internal affairs, and this issue is a Lebanese matter.”
The Ambassador also affirmed Iran’s position calling for strengthening and consolidating national unity, highlighting the paramount importance of cementing unity on the internal scene.
