President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, on Monday said that the national and diplomatic campaign waged by Lebanon to clear the ambiguity surrounding the situation of Prime Minister Saad Hariri in Saudi Arabia has brought positive results. "The cohesion demonstrated by the Lebanese during the past few days after the announcement of PM Saad Hariri's surprise resignation has protected national unity," President Aoun said. Aoun also deemed the extraordinary unity shown by the Lebanese in the wake of Hariri's resignation has proved to the world countries that Lebanon is an independent sovereign country with a free decision, the matter that prompted world countries to renew their concern for maintaining security and political stability in Lebanon. The President also expressed that he was pleased with Hariri's declaration of his imminent return to Lebanon, saying "he is awaiting his return to discuss with him the issue of resignation, its causes, circumstances, and concerns that need to be addressed." Aoun received a phone call from Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who confirmed Turkey's stand in favor of Lebanon’s interests, hailing the wise management of President Aoun of the crisis. It was agreed to continue communication between Beirut and Ankara.
