Iran’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari says the country’s naval forces will definitely carry out more extra-regional missions in the future in a bid to improve security.
“The presence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the high seas is among the missions of the naval forces which should certainly be properly established,” Sayyari said on Friday.
He added that the Iranian Army’s naval forces enjoy high level of preparedness to counter any possible act of aggression and threats against the country.
The commander pointed to the “exemplary” security situation in Iran and said, “Although we are witnessing many cases of insecurity in our region, the Islamic [Republic of] Iran has sustainable and good security.”
Sayyari also added that Iran needs no country to supply its required military equipment and noted that the country’s Navy would unveil new achievements in the future.
Iran has conducted major military drills in recent years to enhance the defense capabilities of its Armed Forces and to test modern military tactics and state-of-the-art equipment.
Each year, the country unveils a host of new projects and hardware developed through reliance on domestic capabilities.
The Islamic Republic maintains that its defense power is driven by deterrence and poses no threat to any other country.
