The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) launched on Monday an offensive against ISIL terrorists in southern Tal Afar and managed to liberate eight villages in Qairawan district.
PMF units freed eight villages from ISIL militants on the fourth day of an operation aimed at driving out the takfiri militants from the areas near the Iraqi-Syrian border in west of Mosul, the Iraqi military said.
The popular forces, backed by the Iraqi army’s helicopters, freed the villages which are scattered in north and south of the ISIL-held district of al-Qairawan, located in the rugged sprawling area southwest of Tal Afar and south of Sinjar, the PMF said in a statement.
