Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem is to deliver a televised speech to day on the occasion of Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) birth anniversary.
The ceremony marking the occasion is to take place in Beirut’s southern suburb, Dahiyeh at 17:00 (Beirut time).
Birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is marked yearly as Week of Islamic Unity in the last decades. Traditionally, Sunnis mark the Prophet’s birth on the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal, while Shias observe it on the 17th.
Founder of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Imam Sayyed Rouhullah Moussawi Khomeini proposed that the entire period between the two dates be celebrated as a week of unity and brotherhood.
Sheikh Qassem is expected to tackle latest developments in Lebanon and the region. The speech comes a day after the Israeli enemy staged an attack on the Qatari capital, Doha, in an apparently failed attempt to assassinate top Hamas leaders.
The speech also comes as the Israeli enemy continues to bomb Lebanon, mainly the country’s south, almost daily and maintains occupation over five posts along the southern border, in violation of a ceasefire deal reached following a brutal 66-day Israeli war between September and November 2024.
The Lebanese State has been subjected to unprecedented pressure by the United States, the first sponsor of the Zionist entity, to disarm Hezbollah.
In his latest speech on, Sheikh Qassem called on the Lebanese government to “back off its illegitimate and unconstitutional decisions” related to the disarmament of the resistance.
