The Knesset plenum approved the recommendation to extend the validity of Israel’s state of emergency status for an additional year, Israeli media reported on Tuesday.
The extension will be valid until December 15, 2025, and according to reports, 29 Knesset members supported the proposal, in contrast to seven who opposed it and two who abstained.
Ynet reported that the Finance Committee approved adding about 33 billion shekels ($8.91 billion), the vast majority of which is for increased security needs after the war. In the three times the budget was breached this year, about 107 billion shekels ($28.98 billion) were added, leaving the deficit at 7.7%.
