Sinwar, the architect of the heroic Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7th, has been in Gaza defying Israeli attempts to break the will of the Palestinian people and resistance since the start of the war.
In a brief statement late Tuesday, Hamas said: “After two days of lengthy negotiations the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has decided to elect the brother, fighter, and leader Yahya Sinwar as the head of the movement’s politburo, succeeding the martyr Commander Ismail Haniyeh, may Allah have mercy on him.”
Sinwar was selected by Hamas’ Shura Council, a consultative body composed of officials elected by the movement’s members in four chapters: Gaza, the West Bank, the diaspora and security prisoners in Israeli jails.
Everyone talks about Yahya Sinwar but most of the people didn’t actually listen to him before
He’s now the new head of the political bureau so I’d recommend if you listen to this interview from 2021.

Commenting on naming Sinwar, Israeli Channel 12’s analyst Ohad Hemo said the Palestinian leader “is now the most powerful figure in Hamas, formally too.”
“That was already essentially the case, now it’s official,” the Israeli analyst said.
