Dispelling misconceptions that those who did not vote in the first round are against the establishment, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the need for active participation in shaping the future of Iran. Following the initial round of voting on June 28th, neither candidate received a majority, leading to a runoff between Masoud Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili.
With over 24 million votes cast and a turnout of nearly 40%, the upcoming election is expected to determine the country’s new leader after the tragic passing of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash last month. As the Iranian people prepare to head to the polls once more, the outcome of the runoff is eagerly awaited as the nation looks to chart a course for the future.
