French authorities detained Palestinian-British surgeon and activist Ghassan Abu Sittah at Charles de Gaulle Airport on Saturday. They confiscated his phone and barred his entry, citing a memorandum prohibiting him from entering European Union territories, reportedly owing to a complaint from German authorities.
Abu Sittah commented on the biased measure, stating on his personal “X” platform account that he had planned to speak before the French Senate before being notified of a one-year entry ban into Europe imposed by Germany.
I am at Charles De Gaule airport. O was supposed to speak in tge French parliament. They are preventing me from entering France. They say the Germans put a 1 year ban on my entry to Europe

Earlier in April, German officials stormed the Palestine Congress conference, where Dr. Abu Sittah was scheduled to speak, canceling the weekend-long event. The conference planned to debate a variety of issues, including German armament transfers to the Zionist entity and public support for the Palestinian cause.
Dr. Abu Sittah commented on the arbitrary measure, stating that, after extensive interrogation, the German government forcibly denied him entry into the nation.
As a specialist in military medicine, Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah swiftly flew to the Gaza Strip following the initial Israeli occupation strikes, providing continuous service for 43 days.
Upon his departure from the strip, he committed himself to raising global awareness about the horrific situation within besieged Gaza.
In his recent interview with Amnesty International UK on March 27, 2024, he extensively discussed Israeli atrocities and shared firsthand experiences of working as a surgeon amidst intense Israeli bombardment.
